TEAPOTS & TEA W/ GUEST KATE FROM MAYDE TEA

Mayde Tea, & Sit Still Lauren are coming together to share their passions. On Saturday, 2 September the duo will be hosting the ultimate workshop. 

Kate of Mayde Tea will be chatting about some tips to increase the therapeutic value of herbal teas, how to incorporate a tea ritual to better your sleep hygiene practices, & how herbal teas can help some the most common ailments seen in naturopathy practice.

After Kate warms you a up with a hot cuppa, Sit Still Lauren will don the teachers cap. She will talk about the meditation that unfolds when clay is introduced into your life & give you the skills to make your own hand-built TEAPOT. No pottery wheel, or experience needed!!

On this day, you will receive a full day of tuition, a soulfully nourishing home-cooked lunch, all tea materials, clay, glazing & firings. If the kiln gods are shining, you will take home your own teapot after firings are complete to use for your daily tea ritual.

WORKSHOP // LOST IN THE WHEEL // 1 Day Wheel Throwing

As you learn more about pottery, you learn more about how to control your hand movements and the clay. You develop confidence and you understand the basic stages of making a pot & the importance of working “right”.

You begin to see the beauty that is enclosed in any vessel, in a rounder motion, in a shape of a circle and spiral, in the material and in a form. And even more so, you learn the art of controlling and surrendering. It teaches you more than you could ever imagine.

This small class of 4 people will focus on teaching you the fundamentals of clay properties & techniques used in wheel throwing & working with mother earth muddy goodness. Projects will range from bowls, mugs & beginner projects. You will also learn some basics of decoration including glazing, various carving & surface texture techniques.

WORKSHOP // BUILD YOUR CLAY EMPIRE // A "next stage" journey into the clay archives

Step into mud land & let Lauren guide you into the cleanest mud pools of pure goodness  :) This just means she likes to get muddy + pass on her craft to those who wish to learn, feel the earth between their toes & smile beneath their nose.

A practice to take home create your own clay empire in your own way. The day will incorporate creating slabs and forming them into bowls, plates and the like. Using moulds and forms from around the home. You will leaving the day being able to create your own home empire.(Press moulds & Slab building - plates, bowls and more). We will talk about the meditation that unfolds when clay is introduced into your life.

You will receive a full day of tuition on hand building (introductory, learning form & function), a soulfully nourishing lunch cooked by the beautiful Ebony, clay, glazing and firings. If the kiln gods are shining, you will take home 2 or 3 pieces after firings are complete.

Enjoy the intimate shapes, shadows and curves of the incredible human body. Be guided through observation of the figure and begin to understand what comprises beautiful composition in an intimate class with experienced instruction by Grant Colquhoun. Grant is a renowned illustrator & artist, he will guide you through the day & share his love of the arts.

This special day includes; 2 different nude models, 3 hours of tuition, use of materials & tools, beautiful organic & raw cakes from the amazing Numi.Numi, maker of sweet things. Unleash your creativity & discover your own personal style

This workshop is a time to get yo hands dirty & play with some good old mother earth.  Step into the clay parlour in one of the most beautiful ways and introduce or reintroduce clay into your world. You will learn the fundamentals in the way of pinch potting & coiling. Breathing in a bit of the philosophy, learning how clay works & feeling the mud slide ride. The kind of experience any clay lover can take home to meditate with.

You will receive a full day of tuition on hand building (introductory, learning form & function), a soulfully nourishing lunch🍉🌽🍍  cooked by the beautiful Ebony, clay, glazing and firings. If the kiln gods are shining, you will take home a bag of goodies w/ 2 to 3 pieces after firings are complete. Cant wait!!
